Lead Project Manager

 

OVERVIEW

 

Our client in Houston (downtown) is looking for a Lead Project Manager who is very strong in managing IT Infrastructure projects.

 

The Lead Infrastructure Project Manager (LIPM) is accountable for planning and delivering large and complex Enterprise-wide IT Infrastructure projects, to the timescales and budget agreed with the customer, using the client's project management standards and processes.

 

  • Direct budget accountability for Projects >$10M, usually global projects and programs with significant complexity.

  • Defining, documenting and safely executing large scale infrastructure projects/programs, actively driving all phases of the project as defined in the Project Delivery Framework and delivering to agreed timescale and budget.

  • Engaging Sr. Stakeholders at the highest level to ensure that expectations are managed and that the aims of the program or project continue to be aligned with business needs and strategies as they evolve. 

  • Providing effective leadership to the project managers / project teams assigned and monitoring tasks and adherence to the Client's standards and processes. 

  • Ensuring team members are motivated and developing their own skills and that effective relationships are built and maintained with the Customer and suppliers. 

  • Preparing and maintaining project quality and risk plans and tracking progress against the plans, providing regular progress reports to the Customer and steering groups as appropriate.

  • Estimating project costs, timescales and resource requirements in relation to agreed terms of reference. Subsequently monitoring costs, timescales and resources used and taking action where these deviate from plan.

  • Managing a change control process in relation to the project/program, gain agreement for revisions to the scope from project sponsors, and ensure projects continue to meet business objectives.

  • Evaluating and making recommendations/decisions on technical options as appropriate. 

  • Participating in the development of IT infrastructure standards, methods, guidelines, techniques, tools and control structures, particularly in the area of IT project management.

  • Playing a key role in improving PM skills and awareness within the community. 

  • Gaining consensus on complex cross business programs

  • Working in a global organization and with major outsourced suppliers (ATT, HP, IBM, etc.) of infrastructure project delivery.
